With the advent of information technology, this generation has heard more about sex than our parents and grandparents ever did!
Yet our understanding of its true purpose is practically non-existent.
Tonight is not about sex but sexuality. So, what is sexuality?
Sexuality is defined as “...the properties that distinguish organisms on the basis of their reproductive roles”.
Organisms generally refer to living things.
This means your sexuality is what differentiates you from another human being.
Your sexuality is who you are – your person, your gender, your uniqueness, your upbringing
Your sexuality is you.
Thus, if you fail to discover and develop yourself, everyone around including you will suffer.
Your inability to define who you are will lead you to misuse sex, thereby abusing your sexuality.
Your sexuality is beyond just your physical body. It encompasses your body, soul and spirit.
You are a spirit that has a soul which lives in a body.
Anything that affects your spirit will surely affect your soul and your body.
That is the reason you have to know why a thing is made and what it does before you allow it into you.
Your sexuality comprises of your ears, eyes, nose, tongue, mouth, skin, private parts, spirit, emotion, will, mind, etc.
Your mind determines the state of your sexuality.
And yes…. your most important sex organ is your mind.
If you gain control of your mind, then you have gained control of your life.
Anything that enters your soul affects your mind, will and emotion, therefore watch what you allow enter your mind.
Your sexuality is a gift from God that you must protect from distortion.
A distorted sexuality will affect your whole being.
Distortion in your sexuality will affect your personality, education, career, finance, future etc.
Your sexuality shapes your heart and your personality and who you will become.
A distorted mind builds a deformed sexuality.
That is why a Bruce Jenner would become a Caitlyn Jenner
If we refused to talk about this reality, one day, we would send John Okoro to school and he would come back as Joan Okoro.
People who struggle through life are those with little or no information about their sexuality and who they really are.
Until you know and appreciate your sexuality, you will be struggling to be collection of people’s ideas and opinions.
If you do not know who you are (Sexuality), you will beg dog to sleep with you.
A person who is established in self discovery will know what he wants because he knows his/her sexuality.
A transformed life and family is a direct result of a transformed sexuality.
Until you master your sexuality, you won’t love yourself deeply & if you dont love yourself, you cant love another person.
What are the factors that can affect human sexuality?
1. Music
What you hear consistently for a period of time enters your mind and affects your life.
What kind of songs do you listen to? Are those songs affecting you positively or negatively?
What comes to your mind during and after listening to those songs?
The more time you spend listening to music with sexually degrading lyrics,... 1/2
......the more likely you are to initiate intercourse and other sexual activities.
Filter the songs you listen to and watch your life grow positively.
2. TVs, Movies and Videos
Aside from what you hear, what you see or watch also affects your reasoning.
What kind of musical videos are your favourites?
Most people today visit YouTube to watch sexually degrading videos and interviews that will not add any value to them.
Instead of this, watch interviews of great and successful people
I have been spending my time watching and studying the first 40 richest men on Forbes list.
The kind of videos you see will affect your sexuality and your paradigm.
3. Books/Magazines
Books and magazines are meant to help increase knowledge and creative thinking.
They are meant to provide information needed to help readers prepare for the future or consolidate present knowledge.
Unfortunately, we have found that the reverse is the case today.
The books or magazines you read affect who you are?
The materials you read will not take you to your desired future but your deserved future.
Everybody desires a bright future but only few read hard to get information that will take them there.
Today, students only read novels and books on romance, sex and illegal money.
To get to your desired future, get information that will get you there and not what will distort your sexuality.
Where you will be in the next 10 to 20 years will be determined by how much you have practiced what you read.
By practicing what you read, your future will be well deserved.
4. Pornography
Pornography is simply creative sexual activities depicted in pictures, writings or films…1/2
….which have no moral (or any other) value other than to stimulate sexual desire. 2/2
You do not necessarily need to get a film to see porn.
You see them in books, magazines that arouse you sexually, and pictures that make you long for the opposite sex, or even same sex.
Some people even see it at home – when their parents are having sexual intercourse.
Pornography damages your reasoning. It takes over your mind and sticks there.
It clouds your reasoning. It causes a lot of damage to your sexuality. It is more addictive than drugs. Stay away from it.
There more factors that affect human sexuality – Environment, Upbringing, companions, experiences etc.
