IHOTU JOY AMUTA @aihot WAS OUR 4TH GUEST SPEAKER ON THE FEBRUARY EDITION OF #AARTalk. SHE SHARED ON "FINDING ME."
It's 7pm! Time for "FINDING ME" with @KICKagainstRAPE #AARTALK...join me as I share
It's good to be on @KICKagainstRAPE hosted by my sis @Bunmi_Sobowale thanks for having me.
When we decided on the topic "FINDING ME" the 1st thing that crossed my mind was the movie "finding nemo" which I love.
The movie is all about the challenges of rescuing nemo a little fish. Like the movie it's a challenge to find who u really are
People are born, they live and die but many do not find who the are or why they are here
A phrase I like is "do not throw out the baby with the bath water" it means learn from ur issues and move on.
When you are a kid it's easy to give excuses for your mistakes and behavior but as u grow u are expected to take responsibility.
When you are a kid you can poo in the bath water, pour the soap in it...but as you grow you will probably get spanked for that.
This is because u are expected to start taking responsibility for your actions
But life isn't a bed of roses so u are tossed and turned by different experiences as u go and this will influence your outlook to life .
For some people finding out who they are despite all the "drama" may be the bravest thing they will ever do.
Self discovery is not some spooky ritual you need to undergo, it's the only way to find peace within
In finding yourself is recognizing what u like and what u don't, what u can live with or not.
I was a fairly melancholic child, I rarely spoke so I hardly got what I wanted because I didn't ask.
It got confusing to me trying to have fun with my friends when I thought it was too noisy or having to joke around when ill rather read
I almost became schizophrenic trying to fit in and please people it rather confused my family and friends
I knew I couldn't continue the way I was going and help came when I had to answer some questions at a youth conference
These were the questions I answered, I hope they help someone today
. Do I like to be around people? 2. Am I the life of the party? 3. Do I mind being disorganized? 4. Do I care what people think?
These questions seemed simple but the got me to realise my preferences and therefore find out more about "ME"
Of cos I wanted to live up to expectations but within my capacity and natural inclination...no forming.
Knowing that you don't need anyone's approval to be all you can be would liberate you
You will always live a life other than yours until you accept yourself for who you are; temperament and all.
Then it's time 4 improvement in areas u find yourself wanting, it will be hard 2 let go of the experiences &influence but u have to.
The hurt, mistake, pain, joy, "LIFE" u go thru will leave spots & scars on u and force u to chose to fall or rise above them.
The continuous WORK on self to achieve excellent in character is of utmost importance
If what u do is based on what others do or expect u haven't started living.
Life should be a conscious effort to be better everyday despite what happened yesterday. You will need to forgive and move on.
Because there's an essence you carry that attracts people to you if you don't know it will get anyone.
As I round up now I want to say that "when you know yourself then you can be yourself" be comfortable in your own skin.
Whoever you are, whatever you've been through find the balance and strive to be a better version of you.
Being you is adding some spice to the world, without you we may very well be missing an important seasoning .
We NEED you to find you and be you!
That's a wrap @KICKagainstRAPE thanks for the opportunity.
