DR MAY MUNAH KADIRI WAS OUR 4TH GUEST SPEAKER ON THE AUGUST EDITION OF #AARTALK. SHE SHARED ON "TEENAGE PREGNANCY ISSUES."

Good day beautiful people...tonight we shall be discussing teenage pregnancy and the issues arising from it. Let's go there.

Teenage pregnancy by definition is pregnancy in human females under the age of 20 at the time that the pregnancy ends.

This is the life of a typical teenager with a child.."Suffering".Who do you know that has been there, let's talk

Half of all teen births occur in just 7 countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, the DRC, Ethiopia, India, #Nigeria  & the United States.

The W.H.O statistics on Nigeria in 2010 indicated that the country accounts for 22.9% of teenage pregnancies globally.

10% of girls who 1st had sex before age 15 yrs reported that they were coerced into it & this contributes to unwanted adolescent pregnancies.

Teenage pregnancy could be this disastrous. .it's called suffering & smiling by late #Fela. Say YES to life.

10% of girls who 1st had sex before age 15 yrs reported that they were coerced into it & this contributes to unwanted adolescent pregnancies.

Teenage pregnancies are far more likely to be unintended & are more likely to end in induced abortion...another disaster!!!

In most poor nations of the world, poverty plays a significant role in young girls getting pregnant. Nigeria is also on this list.

What issues of these teenage pregnancies are we aware of..emotional, social, psychological,  financial, spiritual, among others?

Teenage pregnancy is when joy is turned into sorrow.  When a child is meant to look after a

Some of the causes of teenage pregnancy are peer pressure, lack of information, family related problems.

According to WHO,Adolescents acct for 23% of the overall burden of disease due to pregnancy & childbirth..23% of a stressful.

To our 21st century Parents, not only mothers please..learn to discuss sex education with your children. It's key to their well being.

Teenage pregnancies bring up social problems like divorce, poverty, child abuse and juvenile delinquency.

To our 21st century Parents, not only mothers please..learn to discuss sex education with your children. It's key to their well being.

If you think teenage pregnancy affects only the girls,  then think again...your boy getting a girl pregnant is also bad news.

Culture, tradition & religion play a significant role in issues that may lead to teenage pregnancy. Which is our major issue in Najia?

Did you know about 16 million women between ages 15-19 yrs give birth each year, making 11% of all births worldwide.

Teenage mothers are more likely to suffer toxaemia, anemia, birth complications, and death.

A teenage girl living within parents may find it more difficult to cope within pregnancy because of the guilt of having let her parents down.

Teenage babies are more likely to have low birth weight and suffer birth injury and neurological defects.

It's high time parents be their children's parents first before becoming their friends. It reduces teenage pregnancy.

The consequence of an unplanned indulgence puts teenage pregnant mothers at risks socially, psychologically and economically.

Most families don’t support d idea of teenage pregnancy & instead of supporting the child, end up throwing unfriendly remarks,STOP IT.

Other causes of teen pregnancy are exposure to electronic gadgets, peer pressure, curiosity.Parents what are your teens watching?

Because of parental/family hostility, the pregnant teenager looks for ways to terminate her life or the life of the child.

Parents stop the hostility towards your teen's pregnancy. This helps to reduce maternal and child mortality.

When a pregnant teenager is stuck within a hostile environment, she would begin to feel a blow at her self-esteem.

To escape from a hostile environment or be oblivious to its existence, the teenager finds solace in substance abuse. Another issue.

With the stigma regarding teenage pregnancy in sum societies, pregnant teens may deal with feelings shame and anger.

Also, pregnant teens may deal with feelings of depression. It's bad enough she is pregnant,  but with depression,  it's worse.

The girls are faced with the inability to maintain a stable job,end up in abusive home & have kids who perform poorly in school.

The bad news is teenage mothers tend to have daughters with a 22% higher risk of also becoming pregnant during their teenage years.

Honestly teenagers, learn to enjoy your adolescent years because the chances of been miserable is high within pregnancy.

So, let's all keep calm,be our children's 1st teachers as parents, educate them and stop teen pregnancy.

Mothers’ negligence in educating their girl-child about sex cause them to make costly mistakes as getting pregnant accidentally.

Parents what are you saying to your child about sex education?. .this is NOT only the mothers job. It takes two to tango. Teenage pregnancy is real.

When the law of child marriage is debated in a country of 170 million people, then teenage pregnancy will be high=high mortality.

To everyone, any teenage can get pregnant,  but this can be prevented.  Let's join our hands to end this menace in our society.

Is teenage pregnancy real. ..YES!!! Can it be prevented. ..YES!!! So what are we waiting for?

Let's think about the consequences, challenges, crisis faced by a pregnant teenager.Let's turn d negative C to a positive C, Champion.

The change we all want to see happen starts with us as parents, aunts,uncles,guardians..let's walk the talk, Say NO to teenage pregnancy..

I hear once a teenager gets prevent, her life has ended. Let's stop this stigma..they can be repaired by us if we give them support.

Lets educate, and prepare Ngozi, Bisi, Amina, for a healthy adolescent life. Let them know whatever they miss can't be replaced.

Should we all fold our hands & watch a bill passed 4 our teenagers to marry @ 13.This is a NO! Let's RAISE our VOICE 2 END this.

Thank you for having me. More grace.
